Man headbutted Lincoln officer in attempt to evade traffic stop, police say
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Lincoln Police officer was assaulted during a traffic stop on Tuesday afternoon near the intersection of 14th and F Streets.
The officer initially pulled over the driver over because the vehicle’s registration was expired. While checking the license plate information, the officer found that the driver had a suspended license, police said.
Raymond Palmer, 33, was notified of his suspended license after he got out of the vehicle.
During a struggle, Palmer headbutted the officer in the face, police said.
He ran away, and the officer tried to use a Taser but was unsuccessful.
With help from other officers, Palmer was arrested near the intersection of 18th and D Streets.
He was arrested and lodged on suspicion of assaulting a police officer. Palmer was also cited for obstructing a police officer, driving under suspension and having no valid registration.
