Man hid from officers in Lincoln liquor store after crash, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man tried hiding inside a liquor store early Monday morning after a crash in south Lincoln, police say.

Around 12:45 a.m., officers were sent to 15th and Plum streets after a Toyota Camry hit a tree.

The people inside of the vehicle got out and ran off, according to police.

About 30 minutes later, officers found the owner of the vehicle, 32-year-old Sirak Tesfatsion, inside South Street Liquor.

Police said he was hiding in a back room when he was taken into custody.

Tesfatsion had a blood alcohol content level of 0.195, according to LPD.

He was treated at a hospital before being arrested on suspicion of DUI, leaving the scene of a serious injury accident and careless driving.
