Man hid gun in Hostess pastry box during Lincoln gas station robbery, police say
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man used a pastry box to conceal a gun during a robbery Tuesday in north Lincoln, police say.
Around midnight, 24-year-old Izaiah Bartu entered the Kwik Shop at 27th and W streets.
Bartu, who had a Hostess cinnamon roll box covering his right hand, demanded money from an employee, police said.
The employee thought there was a handgun hidden under the box, according to police. He then gave Bartu an unknown amount of cash.
Shortly after, officers found Bartu, who matched the employee’s description.
He tried running away but was quickly taken into custody, police said.
Officers found a silver handgun, cash and 4.1 grams of meth, according to police.
Bartu was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including robbery and using a deadly weapon to commit a felony.
