Man hid under bush after domestic disturbance in Waverly, deputy says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man tried hiding from authorities Tuesday night after a domestic disturbance in Waverly, the sheriff’s office says.

Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said deputies were sent to Waverly on a report of a domestic disturbance around 9 p.m.

When deputies arrived, the suspect, 31-year-old Caleb Monico, was in his vehicle.

During a traffic stop, Monico ran away, according to Houchin.

With the help of a Nebraska State Patrol helicopter and LPD K9, deputies found Monico hiding under a bush near Hamlow Elementary School.

Deputies later searched Monico’s vehicle and found a loaded handgun in the center console.

Monico was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including stalking with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
