Man inside armored vehicle killed in crash on highway near Grand Island

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A passenger inside an armored vehicle died Wednesday morning in a crash near Grand Island, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office says.
The crash happened just before 8 a.m. near West Highway 30 and Husker Highway, just west of Grand Island.
The sheriff’s office said a GMC Sierra was heading west in the eastbound lanes when it crashed head-on with an armored vehicle.
The Sierra was driven by a 65-year-old man from Aurora. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A passenger in the armored vehicle, 65-year-old Robert Runion of Aurora, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The sheriff’s office said seat belts were in use and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
An investigation is ongoing.
