Man kicked in Lincoln home’s door, stole safe containing paperwork, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Police are looking for the man who broke into a northwest Lincoln home on Tuesday.

Around 1:30 p.m., a couple were cooking in the kitchen of their home near Northwest 54th and Superior streets when they heard a loud bang.

A man had kicked in a door and come inside, according to police.

He went upstairs, kicked in another door and left with a safe that contained “miscellaneous paperwork,” police said.

The man drove off in an older silver SUV.  Police said the home had $300 in damage, and the safe was worth around $70.

An investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.

Police described the thief as a Black man about 40 years old with a shaved head. He was wearing a black hooded jacket and green pants.
