Man killed by Seward County deputies on Interstate 80 is identified

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The man killed by Seward County deputies after a pursuit on Interstate 80 last week has been identified.

In a press release Tuesday, the Nebraska State Patrol said 43-year-old Jorge Luis Santana-Ramirez of Hastings was shot on Oct. 23.

He led deputies on a chase before coming to a stop about 7 miles west of Lincoln.

The Seward County Sheriff’s Office said deputies saw Santana-Ramirez with a weapon and shot him.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

The patrol’s findings will later be delivered to the Lancaster County attorney in accordance with the grand jury process.
