LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was killed Sunday in a head-on crash in rural central Nebraska, the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office says.

The crash happened around 3:40 a.m. at the intersection of Road 429 and Highway 30, just west of Lexington.

A GMC pickup truck had crossed the center line and crashed into a Honda CR-V, according to the sheriff’s office.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the pickup and SUV heavily damaged in a ditch.

The driver of the Honda, 39-year-old Luis Hernandez-Zavala, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s office said the driver of the pickup and a passenger in the Honda were taken to a hospital in Lexington and treated for their injuries.

Investigators deemed that seat belts were in use at the time of the crash.
