Man killed in head-on crash while heading to work in southeast Nebraska, sheriff says
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Authorities say a man was killed in a head-on crash that caused extensive damage to multiple vehicles in southeast Nebraska.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office reported that 33-year-old Nicholas Schreck of Nebraska City was heading to work on Monday when his Mercury Topaz collided with a Chevy Silverado.
This happened south of Rock Bluff Road on Highway 75 around 6:23 a.m.
Schreck was pronounced dead at the scene. Two people who were in the Silverado walked away from the wreck without serious injuries.
Witnesses told the sheriff’s office they saw the Topaz driving erratically before the collision.
Highway 75 was closed for several hours but has since reopened. The crash remains under investigation.
Cass County is reminding drivers to be aware of their surroundings, especially with ongoing construction along the highway.
