Man killed in single vehicle accident east of Kearney

KEARNEY, Neb. (AP) _ Authorities say a Minden man has died in a car crash east of Kearney.
The crash was reported shortly after 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office says a southbound vehicle ran off a county road into a ditch, hit an embankment and rolled, ejecting the driver.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. He’s been identified as 37-year-old Richard Araujo.
He was alone in the car.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________The Buffalo County Sheriff's Office is investigating the circumstances involving a single vehicle fatal crash which occurred near the intersection of Keystone Rd. and Coal Chute Rd. east of Kearney, NE. At this time we believe the accident occurred during the early morning hours of Sunday August 19, 2018. The crash was reported to law enforcement at 1:39 AM Sunday morning.According to preliminary investigation a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling southbound on Keystone Road. As the vehicle approached the area near Coal Chute Road the vehicle left the roadway, entered the east ditch where it left the roadway, hit an embankment, and rolled. The driver, who was the lone occupant, was ejected from the vehicle and found dead at the scene. The driver was a 37 year old man from the South Central Nebraska region. Deputies were assisted at the scene by members of the Gibbon Volunteer Fire Department and Kearney Buffalo County Fatality Accident Reconstruction Team.Efforts are underway to notify next of kin; family has not yet at this time been notified. An autopsy has been ordered by the Buffalo County Attorney's Office.
