Man killed when pickup rolls over in southeast Nebraska
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A man died after a rollover crash late Sunday night in southeast Nebraska.
The crash was reported about 10:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 136 in Fairbury, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Joseph Hergott, 61, was driving west but crossed the eastbound lane and went into the ditch, Sheriff Nicholas Georgi said.
The pickup truck then hit an embankment and rolled.
Hergott was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. He was not wearing a seat belt, the sheriff’s office said.
There was no one else in the pickup.
The crash is still being investigated, Georgi said.
Hergott was from Gilead, a village 13 miles west of Fairbury.
