Man pleads guilty to shooting, killing bald eagle in northeast Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man pleaded guilty last week to shooting and killing a bald eagle in northeast Nebraska, the Stanton County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

Domingo Zetino-Hernandez, 20, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act violation in Omaha.  He is set to be sentenced on Nov. 4.

A second suspect, 20-year-old Ramiro Hernandez-Tzquin, is still being sought on a federal arrest warrant, the sheriff’s office said.

In February, the men were found with a dead bald eagle at the Wood Duck Recreation Area.

The sheriff’s office said that the men, both of Norfolk, shot the protected bird and had planned to cook and eat it.
