Man pleads not guilty to killing ex-girlfriend in Seward
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Seward man pleaded not guilty Monday in the death of his ex-girlfriend.
Casey Kindt, 54, was arraigned in Seward County District Court on a charge of first-degree murder and five other felony counts. Kindt pleaded not guilty to all charges.
On Feb. 8, Kindt broke into the Seward home of 36-year-old Jamie Hagen and shot her at least four times, authorities said.
He then turned the gun on himself, according to court documents, and was critically wounded.

Hagen died at the scene. She had a protection order against Kindt, court records show.
A child was in the home during the shooting and locked herself in a bedroom until officers arrived, the Nebraska State Patrol said.
In addition to first-degree murder, Kindt is charged with burglary, child abuse and three weapons violations.
He is due back in court on July 3.
