Man pointed gun at driver during road rage incident west of Lincoln, deputy says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An Iowa man was arrested Sunday after a road rage incident west of Lincoln, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says.

Around 2:20 p.m., 24-year-old Bryer McCoy pointed a handgun at another driver on Interstate 80 near Emerald, Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said.

The victim hit the brakes and called authorities.  It’s unknown what led up to the incident, according to Houchin.

Shortly after, deputies pulled over McCoy, who initially denied having a gun.

But during a search, he admitted to having one, Houchin said.

McCoy was arrested on suspicion of using a deadly weapon to commit a felony.  He was also cited on suspicion of several other charges, including terroristic threats.

“We’re starting to hear more and more about these road rage incidents and people having weapons with them and sometimes just making really dumb decisions,” Houchin said.
