LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man is facing a felony assault charge after punching a corrections officer at the Lancaster County Jail on Monday.

Around 2:15 a.m., 36-year-old Jaden McHugh was in the jail’s changing room after being booked, according to an arrest affidavit.

McHugh then raised his hands, “took up a fighting posture” and stepped toward a corrections officer, the affidavit alleges.

Three officers brought McHugh to the ground on his stomach.

During a struggle, McHugh turned onto his back and punched an officer three times in the face, the affidavit says.

Another officer used a Taser to shock McHugh, who tried to grab it, according to the affidavit.

McHugh was eventually placed in handcuffs.

He was charged with second-degree assault.

On Wednesday, a Lancaster County judge ordered that he be held without bail, but another hearing has been scheduled for Thursday.
