LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Police are searching for the man who ran away after a crash Monday morning.

Around 7 a.m., officers were sent to an area near 27th and Superior Streets on the report of a hit-and-run.

A 51-year-old victim told offices that he was heading south on 27th Street through a green light in his truck when he was hit by another vehicle.

Witnesses said they saw a gold Honda Accord and a red Ford Focus exit onto 27th Street from a driveway, according to police.

As the Honda got into the southbound lane on 27th Street, it struck the victim’s truck.

The driver of the Honda then got out of his car and ran away, police say.

During the investigation, officers discovered that the Honda had been reported stolen last Tuesday from a home near 10th and Superior Streets.

The Ford, which was last seen heading south on 27th Street, was also reported stolen from a home near 7th and Superior Streets earlier that morning, according to police.

Both vehicles had been left running and unoccupied when they were stolen, police say.

An investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call Lincoln Police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.

The victim of the crash was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to police.

Police described the driver of the Honda as a black male in his teens with long hair, wearing tan clothing.
