Lincoln firefighters had a unique rescue Saturday morning.
A worker had to be lowered from the top of a 65-foot water tank near 84th and South streets around 11 a.m.
Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Bob Watton told Channel 8 the man was working on the tank when he injured his back and couldn’t get down on his own.
LFR lowered the man using a fire truck ladder, basket and ropes. After they were on the scene for almost 2 hours, the man was transported to the hospital. He was injured while pulling a rope and is expected to be okay
Watton told us there were about five people inspecting the water tank, which they do about every five years.
