Man sentenced again for stabbing Lincoln Police officer

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln man was resentenced Tuesday in the stabbing of a police officer.
Christopher Brennauer, 49, got 26 to 33 years in prison. He received credit for more than five years already spent behind bars.
On Dec. 29, 2018, officers were called to Brennauer’s apartment near 48th and High streets.
Brennauer was armed with a knife and stabbed Officer Kyle Russell in the chest, police said.
Russell, who survived his wound, shot Brennauer in the shoulder.
Brennauer was convicted of assault on an officer and several other felonies in 2021, but he filed an appeal.
Last year, the Nebraska Supreme Court threw out his conviction, saying the jury did not receive proper instructions.
Brennauer pleaded no contest to new charges in September.
