Man sentenced in Nebraska for $690,000 theft from Walmart

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A California man was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Lincoln for stealing from Walmart stores across the country.
Jabaree Mabrey, 27, got more than five years in prison for fraudulent use of an unauthorized use of a financial transaction device.
U.S. District Judge John Gerrard also ordered him to pay $690,484 in restitution.
Mabrey and his accomplice, Marlon Tigner, managed to steal the money from Walmart locations over the last few years, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
Three Omaha locations were among the stores they hit, authorities said.

Investigators learned that a master key unlocks all Walmart cash registers, and Mabrey and Tigner got copies of the key.
Tigner was pulled over in Lancaster County in January 2023, and authorities found the keys on him.
In December, Tigner was sentenced to almost six years in prison.
After Mabrey is released, he will spend three years on supervised release.
