Man seriously hurt in crash with Lincoln Police cruiser; officer has minor injuries
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A police officer and a Lincoln man were injured in a T-bone crash Friday night.
The crash happened about 10:30 p.m. at 27th and W streets, according to the Lincoln Police Department.
An officer was driving south on 27th with their lights and sirens on to help another officer, police said.
Meanwhile, a sedan driven by a 36-year-old man was going east on W Street.
Police said he stopped at the stop sign but then continued into the intersection, where the two vehicles collided.
The officer immediately tried to get the other driver out of the car, according to police, but Lincoln Fire & Rescue had to remove him.
A Channel 8 reporter at the scene saw numerous boxes and other items lying in the street.
LPD said the 36-year-old was hospitalized with injuries that were serious but not life-threatening.
The officer was taken to a hospital to be checked out for minor injuries.
