Man shot himself in foot during family barbecue at Lancaster County home

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was injured Saturday night after he shot himself in the foot at a family barbecue, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says.
Capt. Tommy Trotter said the barbecue was held at a home 2 miles west of Crete.
During the family gathering, a man brought out a pistol to show a friend. He later left the gun on a table.
Around 7:30 p.m., a 29-year-old man picked up the gun and pulled the trigger, accidentally shooting himself in the foot, Trotter said.
He was taken to a hospital in Crete with injuries that were not life-threatening. Trotter said no one was cited.
