Man stabbed at People’s City Mission in Lincoln, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A man was stabbed Monday evening at a Lincoln homeless shelter, police say.

The Lincoln Police Department responded to the People’s City Mission at First and Q streets about 5:40 p.m.

Officers said they found a 34-year-old man with a stab wound to his chest that was not life-threatening.

He was taken to a hospital.

Police said investigators determined that Steven Shiffermiller, 38, yelled at the victim, threatening to kill him.

Shiffermiller then stabbed the man with a metal tire reamer, a sharp tool that is used to help fix flat tires, according to LPD.

He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault, terroristic threats and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
