Man carjacked vehicle in Kansas, led deputies on high-speed chase in Nebraska, sheriff says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Kansas man led authorities on a high-speed chase Tuesday in rural southern Nebraska, authorities say.
Furnas County Sheriff Douglas Brown said a man “kicked out” the owner of a Chevy Traverse in Norton, Kansas, and fled with a female still inside.
Around 4:20 p.m., Furnas County dispatch received a report of the Chevy heading north on Highway 283 toward Nebraska.
Deputies started pursuing the vehicle 14 miles after it crossed the Nebraska-Kansas border.
The sheriff’s office said that the vehicle reached 100 mph and that the driver sideswiped a deputy’s vehicle.
With the help of the Nebraska State Patrol and the Gosper County Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped the vehicle in Elwood.
The 26-year-old man was taken into custody, and charges are pending.
The female in the vehicle was unharmed, according to the sheriff’s office.
