LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man wielding a sword was arrested Wednesday after threatening to kill a Lincoln motel guest, an affidavit says.

Around 2:45 p.m., 23-year-old Grant Soderstrom — who was armed with a sword — went to the Travelodge near 52nd Street and Cornhusker Highway.

He went to a motel room and smashed its window, according to an arrest affidavit.

Soderstrom started swinging his sword at the man in the room, the affidavit says.  The night before, Soderstrom had threatened to kill the guest.

The guest eventually knocked the sword out of Soderstrom’s hands and told him he would call police.  Soderstrom then picked up the sword and took off, according to the affidavit.

Officers found Soderstrom, who was still carrying the sword, near 45th and Turner streets and took him into custody.

He is charged with terroristic threats and possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, court records say.

A Lancaster County judge set Soderstrom’s bond at $30,000.  He must pay $3,000 to be released from jail.
