Man threw meth-filled backpack out of car during pursuit near Lincoln, deputy says
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was caught Thursday with meth after a chase near Lincoln, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says.
Around 5:10 p.m., deputies tried pulling over a vehicle for having improper tint and following too close on I-80, just west of Lincoln.
The driver — 49-year-old Jason Pemberton — refused to stop, Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said.
During the chase, Pemberton threw a backpack — which had 11 pounds of meth inside — out of the vehicle, according to Houchin.
Pemberton stopped in the Shoemaker’s parking lot and ran away, Houchin said. He was eventually taken into custody.
Pemberton was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including possession of a controlled substance.
