Man who shot at officers outside northwest Lincoln Casey’s gets decades in prison

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The man who shot at officers outside a northwest Lincoln Casey’s was sentenced Thursday.

Michael Glaser, 45, got 26 to 34 years in prison for first-degree false imprisonment, terroristic threats, use of a firearm to commit a felony and resisting arrest with a deadly weapon.

Around 8:30 p.m. on April 2, Glaser walked into Casey’s at Northwest 12th Street and West Cornhusker Highway and set a gun on the counter.

The sheriff’s office said the incident was “domestic related” and not a robbery.

Glaser was separated from his wife, who works at the store, but the woman wasn’t working there that night.

Glaser shot at the first officer who arrived, according to Police Chief Michon Morrow. That officer returned fire.

Two more officers and a Nebraska State Patrol trooper arrived shortly after and continued exchanging gunfire, officials said.

Two employees at the store barricaded themselves in a back room during the shootout.

Glaser was eventually shot in the upper chest before the SWAT team took him into custody.

No officers, customers or employees were injured.
