Man with hammer threatened to kill group at north Lincoln home, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested Friday after he threatened a group at a north Lincoln home with a hammer and a knife, police say.

Around 2 a.m., a man called police and said 34-year-old Anthony Grandel was trying to kill his five roommates at a home near 19th and Superior streets.

When officers arrived, they went inside, and got the victims out of the home, police said.

Grandel then barricaded himself in a back room, and officers tried to get him to come out.  About 20 minutes later, Grandel was taken into custody.

He was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including second-degree assault and terroristic threats.
