Man’s body found in search for kayaker at Lake McConaughy

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The body of a missing kayaker was found Monday in Lake McConaughy.

About 1 p.m. Mountain time, a dive team recovered a man’s body, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.

On Sunday night, conservation officers received a report of an empty, overturned kayak near the Lemoyne Bay boat ramp.

Game and Parks, Keystone Lemoyne Fire and Rescue and the Keith County Sheriff’s Office searched for kayaker until dark using sonar.

They started searching again after a Monday morning storm, according to Game and Parks.

An autopsy will be conducted to identify the man and determine his cause of death.

Game and Parks said no one has been reported missing in the area.

The investigation is ongoing.
