Marine Corps collects ‘Toys for Tots’ donations at Husker basketball game

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – At the Husker basketball game today, the U.S. Marine Corps collected donations for their annual Toys for Tots Drive.

People could bring in any new, unwrapped toys or make a cash donation.

Master Sergeant Jose Gaucim said last year there were over 160,000 toys, 70,000 stocking stuffers, and 15,000 books donated.

He said about 98% of what’s donated goes right back into helping Nebraska families.

Gaucim said the goal is to ensure that every child has a good Christmas.

“It’s important to every community that every child has something to unwrap Christmas morning, so they don’t go without a Christmas,” he said.

He also said these types of events help build the relationship between marines and the community.

If you’d like to make a donation, there will be another drive at the Husker Women’s Basketball game on Dec 2. You can also donate on the Marine Corps website.
