Measles reported in Lancaster County for the first time in more than 30 years

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department reported a confirmed case of measles in Lancaster County.
According to the health department, the case involves an adult who was appropriately vaccinated and has no history of out-of-state travel.
It is the first measles case reported in Lancaster County since 1990.
Measles is a highly contagious disease spread through the air via coughing and sneezing.
Potential exposure locations include:
- Walmart, 4700 N. 27th Street – Jan. 18 from 1 to 3:30 p.m.
- Med Elite Urgent Care, 7120 S. 69th Street – Jan. 25 from 1:30 to 5 p.m.
Residents who were in the same locations as this person may have been exposed to measles and should complete the risk assessment survey here.
“As cases continued to spread in the U.S. and were reported in Nebraska, we knew it was only a matter of time before measles would be on our doorstep,” said Kerry Kernen, Health Director. “If residents were at any of the locations on the dates and times mentioned, they’ll also want to check their vaccination status and watch closely for signs and symptoms of measles.”
