Megan and the Mayor: Gaylor Baird highlights Lincoln’s summer activities
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln was recently named one of the best cities to live in America by the website Livability.
Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird told Channel 8’s Megan Conway that there are a lot of activities that contribute to such a high quality of life.
One of those activities is family swim night, when the pools are reserved for families.
“We’re so happy to offer this chance to beat the heat for our families all across Lincoln, and our public pools rotate through different family swim nights every Monday through Friday,” Gaylor Baird said.
It’s $10 for a family and goes from 6 to 8 p.m.
You can find a map on the Parks and Recreation Department’s website to find out where family swim nights are happening.
Another activity is movies in the park.
The movies are normally Friday nights and are at different locations around the city.
“This Friday at McPhee Elementary in the schoolyard, they’ll be showing a Disney movie, so it’s just a great time to come out. And again, the timings a little bit depends on when the sunset, so show up by 8:45,” the mayor said.
You don’t need to RSVP or purchase tickets; it’s all free.
If the weather is bad, the movies will be moved inside a recreation center.
The movie this Friday is “Strange World.”
