Michigan man arrested after firing gun at north Lincoln hotel, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested early Tuesday morning after shots were fired at a north Lincoln hotel, police say.
Around 4:30 a.m., officers were sent to AmericInn near North 27th Street and Fletcher Avenue on a weapons violation.
A witness told police that a man — later identified as 28-year-old Micheal Cornejo of Michigan — drove up to the hotel and shot at the building before leaving.
Police said there were shell casings in the parking lot and bullet holes in the hotel’s lobby window.
Shortly after, officers received a report that the vehicle was seen near North 27th Street and Old Dairy Road.
Police said officers tried pulling over the vehicle, but Cornejo refused to stop.
Officers started chasing Cornejo, but the pursuit ended when he crashed into a roundabout at North 14th and Superior streets.
Investigators searched the vehicle and found a rifle and nitrous oxide cans, according to police.
Cornejo was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including two counts of attempted first-degree assault and two counts of using a weapon to commit a felony.
