Midwest man plants wife 1.2 million sunflowers for wedding anniversary
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Finding the perfect anniversary gift can be challenging.
Some go with jewelry while others stick with a bouquet of flowers.
But one Kansas man went a few extra miles and grew an entire field of sunflowers.
Lee and Renee Wilson are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary and Lee knew he had to do something special.
He said his wife always loved sunflowers, so he took that idea and ran with it.
With the help of his son, Lee planted 80 acres of sunflowers.
That’s about 1.2 million of them, all for his special lady.
Renee said it made her feel special and couldn’t have been a more perfect surprise.
