Yesterday, we told you someone in Lincoln won a million dollars from Powerball..
We now know who it is..
The lucky winners were 32 Sysco employees who have been pooling their money together for a decade.
After fees and taxes, each player is estimated to take home nearly 22–thousand dollars.
In this video from lottery officials… each of the 32 winners from Sysco met at Haymarket Park this morning to receive their giant check.
The media wasn’t invited to the ceremony, but Neil Watson with Nebraska Lottery met with the group.
"’The Lucky 32’ as we’re calling them, is just a great group. They’ve been playing together as a group for 10 years now,” Watson said.
The group comes together to buy tickets anytime the Powerball jackpot is more than 100 million dollars.
And although the jackpot remains untouched, each of “The Lucky 32” is estimated to take home nearly 22–thousand dollars, after taxes.
"I’m happy they won it. They’re hard–working people. It couldn’t have happened to a better bunch of people."
Quincy Greer works for Fat Dogs, the gas station where the winning ticket was purchased.
He sold the winning Powerball ticket… and due to his own instinct, he knew yesterday, before the names were ever announced who would be a million dollars richer.
As shown in this clip from yesterday, Greer says, "I’m pretty sure I know who it is. I’m waiting for them to come in here tomorrow to confirm it. But I’m pretty sure I know who it is, one of the regulars from Sysco."
But "The Lucky 32" aren’t the only ones collecting lottery money today.
Watson adds, "this is a separate bonus that goes directly to the retailer. It’s not tied to the prize, but it is one percent of the prize goes back to the retailer as a bonus."
This 10–thousand dollar check is given to Fat Dogs as a bonus.
The company hasn’t decided how it will spend the money.
Another Powerball drawing is happening tomorrow, now with the increased jackpot of 800–million dollars.
