Missing dog found wrapped in duct tape inside Omaha dumpster

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A missing dog was found Monday morning encased in duct tape and abandoned inside a dumpster in Omaha.

The Nebraska Humane Society said animal control was sent to Sweet & Associates, an accounting firm, near 132nd Street and West Center Road around 10 a.m.

An employee thought she heard a raccoon in the dumpster but found a little dog wrapped almost entirely in duct tape.

“I have never seen anything like it,” said Kevin Wiederin, who helped rescue the dog, in a press release.

Leo the dog was rushed to the Nebraska Humane Society, where staff sedated him and removed the tape.

The shelter said Leo had some mild skin irritation and perked up once he was unwrapped.

Leo’s owner, Erin Pasillas, reported him missing on Thursday.  She thinks he slipped out while she was taking her son to school.

“He’s the sweetest dog!” Pasillas said in the release.  “I don’t know why anyone would do this.”

The Nebraska Humane Society is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest.

The dumpsters behind the business are isolated, and no cameras are nearby, the shelter said.

Anyone with information is asked to call animal control at 402-444-7800 extension 1.
