Missing Nebraska Couple Found Safe-44 years later
A Nebraska couple missing for nearly 44 years have been found safe, and authorities say they left voluntarily. Melvin Uphoff and Jacqueline Rains Kracman disappeared when he was 31 and she was 18. She was last seen in Columbus, and he disappeared from Rising City.
Nebraska State Patrol Spokeswoman Deb Collins says their cold case division closed the case after an investigator tracked the two down and spoke with them by phone on April 27. Collins says they committed no crimes and left of their own free will.
Collins would not say where the couple lived, because they asked that their information remain private. Both left behind children and other family.
