More above average temperatures on the way 3/15/2022
We are off to a much colder start this Tuesday morning! Clear skies allowed temperatures to plunge into the 20s overnight with wind chill values in the teens. Grab your winter gear for the morning, but make sure you can shed the layers by the afternoon. We quickly warm into the mid-60s today with mostly sunny skies and dry weather. This warmth and dry conditions are creating the concern for fire weather across the state. The biggest concern is in western and central Nebraska, but it’s a good idea to avoid burning across the state just to be safe. We remain mild overnight tonight with temperatures only dropping to the mid to upper 30s with clear skies. Temperatures quickly jump into the low 70s tomorrow before dropping into the low 50s on Thursday. Scattered showers are still looking likely on St. Patrick’s Day mainly south of I-80. We aren’t expecting much precipitation overall, so don’t cancel any of your plans for the holiday, but don’t be surprised if you run into a few showers. We dry out and warm into the weekend with highs in the mid-70s on Sunday.
