More than 1,000 pounds of marijuana seized in Lincoln traffic stop

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A man is accused of hauling more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana across Nebraska.
John Silsby, 41, was charged Monday with three counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a firearm while committing a felony and possession of money while committing a drug crime.
He was pulled over Friday in a U-Haul truck on Interstate 80 near the 56th Street exit in Lincoln, according to court documents.
The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said Silsby was swerving out of his lane.
During the traffic stop, a deputy started to suspect criminal activity and searched the U-Haul.
An arrest affidavit says authorities found 1,129 pounds of leaf marijuana, 1 pound of concentrated leaf marijuana (called “moon rock”), 3 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms, 133 pounds concentrate THC and 3,600 milligrams of THC gummies.
Silsby also had four guns and several knives, according to the affidavit.
The sheriff’s office think he was transporting the drugs from California to North Carolina, and they don’t think it was his first trip.
A judge set Silsby’s bond at $80,000.
He is due back in court on April 7.
