More wind, then a wet start to Wednesday
Tuesday already has a chill in the air with winds noticeable first thing this morning, producing a wind chill in the 20s for some.
Dense fog out is expected to linger most of the morning, if not into the early afternoon as well. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for western Nebraska.
Winds locally will be increasing out of the southeast, with higher gusts around 30-35 mph possible.
Count on highs still widely in the 50s for Tuesday afternoon. We’ll take that!
Rain chances will increase overnight into Wednesday morning. Some thunder may be heard tonight, but severe weather will not be an issue. The first wave looks more likely for those just east of Lincoln, then coverage expands just before sunrise through the early morning hours.
Recent trends have sped up this wave of rain, decreasing the potential rainfall amounts that we see into Wednesday evening. Higher rain totals are more likely for western Iowa, with up to a quarter to half an inch possible for many in eastern Nebraska.
And we’re still keeping a close eye on next week. The track of that system is still largely up in the air, and that will be one of the important factors in whether we see wintry precipitation make it into eastern Nebraska or not.
For now, keeping chances in the forecast but keep checking in for more updates as we get closer to that event.
