Morning clouds depart Thursday afternoon
Despite some clearing of clouds on Wednesday evening, the clouds are back on this Thursday morning. Cloud cover is keeping temperatures on the mild side, especially in the eastern part of the state where cloud cover has held on a bit stronger.
Although mostly cloudy skies are likely on Thursday morning, clouds will gradually decrease throughout the afternoon hours. We should be mostly clear by the late afternoon and early evening. Increased sunshine will allow high temperatures to rise to the upper-70s to near 80° for many. This is nearly 10° above average for early October!
Mostly clear skies last into the overnight hours and into Friday morning. Some patchy fog is possible. Low temperatures on Friday morning should be near 54° in Lincoln.
We’ll be watching some high clouds streaming into the area on Friday. This could give the sky more of a milky appearance, but we’re mostly clear overall on Friday.
Temperatures shoot up to the mid-80s on Friday and perhaps upper-80s on Saturday. The record high on Saturday is 90° which was set back in 1928. So while Saturday’s upper-80s aren’t record-breaking, they are darn close and emphasize how unseasonable the air will be.
A “dry” cold front pushes through early Sunday which drops temperatures into early next week. However, we’re watching several disturbances that arrive starting late Sunday and early Monday that increase rain chances.
