Morning storms; A quieter afternoon

Many saw yet another overnight and early morning round of storms on Monday night. Showers and storms will remain possible on Tuesday morning in eastern Nebraska. We cannot rule out a few storms pushing severe limits. Should that happen, damaging winds and large hail would be the main issues.

Stormcast Tuesday Morning

These storms will not stick around forever. In fact, we’ll trend in a drier direction by late morning and into the afternoon. The Canadian wildfire smoke will also disperse, so we’re likely looking at fewer air quality concerns.

We will keep some of the clouds in the afternoon, and that will help keep temperatures on the cooler side. We’re forecasting a high near 80° in Lincoln.

Tuesday Forecast

More storms will develop to the west on Tuesday evening. However, these will struggle to move east into Wednesday morning. While some storms are possible in northern Nebraska early Wednesday, I suspect Lincoln remains dry.

Even so, there is still a storm chance later in the day. Scattered storm development appears possible on Wednesday afternoon.

Stormcast Wednesday Afternoon

The Storm Prediction Center has placed much of eastern Nebraska under a marginal (Level 1/5) risk for severe weather on Wednesday. While this is a lower-end risk, we may see an upgrade to the risk later on. That especially may be the case if the latest model trends persist.
