Mostly dry and fairly warm this first full week of May
The first full week of May celebrates Cinco de Mayo today and Mother’s Day by Sunday! Before you know it, Memorial Day weekend will be here soon as well.
Our current weather pattern is fairly “stuck” this week, which will mean days of similar conditions. We are within a blocking pattern looking at the upper levels which means the weather pattern is stuck and rather unchanging for a bit.
For us in southeast Nebraska, it means temperatures close to 80° each day and barely any chances for rain.
The next 7 days will all be warmer than average which is around 71° this week. Somedays will be about 10 degrees above that average, if not warmer (especially by the weekend).
Today will feature a lot of sunshine and light winds. Should be a great spring day, leaning toward the warmer side.
The UV index is increasing at this time of the year, so remember sunburns can happen in about 20 minutes at an 8 or above.
Keep the sunscreen handy if you’re starting to spend more time outdoors.
Central and eastern Nebraska will see a ton of sunshine today, while the Panhandle could see some spot showers and isolated storms popping up with the heating of the day. Those showers would track somewhat northerly with time.
Tuesday will be mostly sunny again, with a late and very small chance at some rain.
Overall with any chances this week, rain will remain on the lighter side while most stay dry.
