UPDATE: Lincoln man identified in fatal motorcycle vs. car accident

Officials with the Nebraska State Patrol say a fatal motorcycle vs. car accident happened near Hwy 34 and NW 48th Street Sunday.

After arriving on scene, first responders discovered a westbound 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle had collided into the rear of a westbound 2017 Toyota Highlander which was stopped for a red light at the intersection. The motorcycle was ridden by 62-year-old Michael Stover of Lincoln and he was
pronounced deceased at the scene. The Toyota was driven by 57-year-old Margaret Niedbalski of Columbus, Nebraska, and she was not injured.

Stover was wearing a DOT approved helmet at the time of the crash, but it did not remain on his head after the collision.

The Nebraska State Patrol and Lincoln Police Department assisted at the scene and the incident remains under investigation by the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
