Motorcyclist causes crash and then tries to beat victim with a hammer, according to police

Authorities in Grand Island say the man threatened to "take care of you" while swinging the hammer around

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KLKN) — The Grand Island Police Department reports a motorcyclist caused a crash near Old Potash Highway and Highway 281 last night.

Officers say the motorcyclist, identified as Chad Empfield, was driving between two lanes when he suddenly cut off the victim.

That caused the wreck, which police say only made matters worse.

We’re told Empfield then approached the victim’s crashed car with a hammer and threatened to “take care of you” while swinging it around and trying to hit him.

Empfield has since been arrested for terroristic threats, attempted 2nd degree assault, use of a weapon to commit a felony, and reckless driving.
