Much colder Wednesday forecast 2/16/2022
A cold front pushed through Nebraska early this morning and brought colder air with it! Temperatures were in the low 50s at midnight, but have since fallen into the 20s and 30s across southeast Nebraska. This means that we saw our high temperatures for today at midnight! Wind speeds have also increased throughout the morning thanks to the front, so you will notice a decent breeze during your morning commute. The northerly breeze will stick around into the afternoon and evening while temperatures struggle to warm. Most of the area will only reach the low 40s today with clouds lingering into the second half of the day. I expect some pockets of sunshine at times though throughout your Wednesday, but the northeastern half of the state could see some snow flurries for a bit. These flurries will not lead to accumulation. Accumulation from the winter system to our south isn’t likely at all for most of Nebraska today or Thursday. We will remain dry and miss out on snow again! But a sliver of snow could reach up to Falls City and potentially result in some accumulation. Wind gusts increase a tad more overnight, with some gusts exceeding 40 mph. Secure any loose outdoor items before bed to ensure they don’t blow away while you sleep! Breezy conditions stick around through Thursday with even colder highs in the low 30s. Temperatures rebound into the mid-50s on Friday and we remain warm through the weekend.
