Much Warmer Friday- Cold Front Saturday
Today Temperatures will be above freezing for much of us! The warmest temperatures in SW Nebraska due to less snow coverage. Sunshine will also be present in the morning and lessening by the evening with a NW wind 10-15 mph.
Saturday: Light, dry snow moves west to east from the Dakotas/Wyoming region, with the best totals in northwest Iowa and South Dakota. Areas near I-80 may see light rain change to ice pellets depending on timing and positioning Saturday afternoon. Dry air and light rain pushing in from the west will limit snow for much of the state. Watch for slick spots as refreezing is possible.
Sunday and beyond: Sunday will be COLD and breezy, with cloudy skies and temperatures in the 20s. Monday starts our warmup as temperatures could get near 50 degrees Tuesday with small rain/flurry chances Wednesday and Thursday.
Saturday morning and afternoon, light/dry snow moves west->east from the Dakotas. The best accumulating snow will happen further into NW Iowa, South Dakota and east. The further south near and along I-80, light rain showers could turn into ice pellets depending on freezing time. DRY air will be out west and push east limiting snow along and south of I-80. Slick spots will be a concern as refreezing could occur. Stay tuned for the latest.
The best chance for accumulating snow up to 2″ will be further northeast into Iowa and South Dakota. A trace out west with the first snow showers, before dry air and rain showers takes over the southern half of the state as the system moves east.
Today, a slight warmup back into the upper 30s and low to mid 40s Saturday, our next front moves through bringing small snow chances to NE Nebraska. A few periodic chances for rain/flurries next week with a warming trend in store starting Monday! Our winter coat drive is next Thursday too!
