Much warmer this week; wintry mix chance across southeast Nebraska tonight
From early Sunday and so far Monday, temperatures have only been warming up. Lincoln reached the lower 30s just before midnight, and we’re expected to stay in the low to mid 30s for the entire rest of the week.
It’ll be dreary, but we are much warmer.
Fog is expected to develop and become widespread by Monday night. With recent winds out of the south bringing warmer air and moisture atop a melting snowpack, we’ll have plenty of ingredients as the winds calm for fog across the area. And with temperatures now nearing freezing and more precipitation chances, we could see some freezing drizzle/sleet as soon as tonight into Tuesday morning.
Stormcast shows the northern extent of a disturbance passing to our southeast could bring a wintry mix after midnight and into the Tuesday morning commute. Freezing drizzle, sleet and slick spots will be possible for most areas south and east of I-80.
The best chances to see 0.01″ of ice or more will be in far southeast Nebraska around Pawnee, Richardson and Nemaha counties. Lincoln and Beatrice have about a 40-50 percent chance for this, too.
It looks like we’ll be warm enough for rain by Wednesday, lasting into Thursday. So an active start to the week, but if we’re good – temperatures in the 40s by the end of the month are in the forecast!
