Multiple crashes reported across Lancaster County amid slick conditions
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Roads were slick in and around Lincoln on Wednesday, contributing to multiple crashes.
As of 11 p.m., the Lincoln Police Department had been called to 33 crashes.
Outside of city limits, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office responded to two rollover crashes.
In one of them, a man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
In the other, a woman and two children suffered minor injuries.
The Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Department said crews are applying brine as needed to the main roads.
LTU urged drivers to watch for isolated slick spots.
One driver said the roads weren’t too bad when he left his house Wednesday morning.
“Just trying to drive carefully,” he said. “There’s a lot of not great drivers on the road, and you always got to be careful.”
Staci Konzak of Waxing the City said slippery roads could make business a little slow.
“I think the road conditions have had a little impact on business,” she said. “You can definitely tell there’s not as much traffic out in the center today.”
LPD also gave drivers a reminder on its Facebook page about the impact of freezing drizzle and rain on the roads.
Police urged drivers to slow down and give yourself extra room to stop during this kind of weather.
