Multiple crews responding to house fire near Hickman

Fire crews from Hickman, Bennet, Cortland, Southeast, Southwest, Eagle-Alvo and Firth are at the scene near South 120th Street and Stagecoach Road.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – UPDATE: Hickman Fire Chief Art Robinson says no one was inside at the time of a house fire near Hickman.

According to Chief Robinson, the weather played an impact on how the fire crews approached the fire.

Once inside, fire crews realized the situation was not safe and instead went outside to extinguish the flames.

A total of seven fire departments responded to the house fire around 10:57 a.m. on Thursday.

Chief Robinson says fire crews will remain at the house for hours to watch for hot spots to make sure it doesn’t start up again.

The amount of damage and what caused the fire are still unknown at this time.  The state fire marshall is currently investigating the cause of the fire.

A Channel 8 reporter at the scene says the house had extensive damage.

The Salvation Army arrived at the scene to provide food and warm beverages for the fire crews helping out.

Fire crews from Hickman, Bennet, Cortland, Southeast, Southwest, Eagle-Alvo and Firth are at the scene near South 120th Street and Stagecoach Road.  Deputies with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office are also at the scene.

This is the third straight day where crews have battled a house fire in below-freezing temps.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damages is currently unknown.

A Channel 8 reporter at the scene says the fire is currently ongoing.
