Multiple departments battle house fire in Alvo

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Flames burned a home in Cass County on Friday afternoon.

The Eagle Fire & Rescue Department said it was called to a house in Alvo about 12:30 p.m.

The Elmwood Rural Fire Department and the Murdock Volunteer Fire Department also came to help.

Firefighters said they relied on tankers instead of tapping a hydrant.

“Some villages have older infrastructure that if we tap a hydrant we could potentially collapse a water line,” Eagle Fire & Rescue said on Facebook.

Authorities said the residents and their pets escaped the fire.

But Eagle Fire & Rescue shared photos showing heavy damage and offered the homeowners its condolences.
